Cupping is considered negative pressure massage. It has been used for thousands of years in Eastern medicine.
Massage cupping is a combination of massage movements and negative pressure created by the application of cups that draw the skin into the cups forming the suction.
Lubrication is applied to the skin before the cup is applied to enable movement of the cup over the skin while the suction is applied. The suction can be light to heavy depending on the clients comfort level.
This increases blood and lymphatic circulation creating stimulating (toning) or sedating (draining) effects.
It helps to release the fascial restrictions that can cause restriction in muscle movement and some have also found it to help with the appearance of cellulite.
